Hammamet, Tunisia: Sunshine, Sea, and a Proper Switch-Off.
Our last trip to Hammamet was fabulous, sunshine, warmth, and that lovely feeling of completely switching off. From the moment we arrived, everything just felt easy. Blue skies, warm air, and the kind of pace that encourages you to slow down without even trying.
We stayed in the Yasmine Hammamet area, close to the marina, which gave us the perfect mix of relaxed days and a bit of atmosphere in the evenings. Mornings were slow, coffee, sunshine, and deciding whether the day called for the pool or the beach (a very nice dilemma to have).
One of our favourite days was exploring the old medina in Hammamet. It’s everything you imagine, winding streets, whitewashed walls, pops of bright blue, and little shops tucked away selling ceramics, spices, and handmade pieces.
We wandered without much of a plan, which is always the best way, and eventually found ourselves at the Kasbah of Hammamet. The views from the top, looking out over the sea, were absolutely stunning, one of those quiet moments where you just stop and take it all in.
Most days settled into that perfect holiday rhythm, beach, swim, relax, repeat. The coastline in Hammamet is beautiful, with soft sand and clear, calm water that makes it very easy to lose track of time.
Afternoons drifted into evenings with a drink in hand, watching the sun go down, deciding where to eat, and doing it all again the next day. No rush, no pressure, just enjoying being there.
The food was another highlight. Fresh seafood, traditional Tunisian dishes like couscous, and plenty of flavours that felt both comforting and a little bit different. Evenings around the marina in Yasmine Hammamet had a really lovely atmosphere, relaxed, lively without being too busy, and perfect for just wandering and choosing somewhere that felt right.
Hammamet gave us exactly what we were looking for, sunshine, simplicity, and time to properly relax. It’s not about ticking off a long list of sights; it’s about how easy it is to just be.
We came back feeling refreshed, happy, and already talking about when we might go again, which is always the sign of a great trip.

Standing atop Byrsa Hill in Carthage, with the warm Mediterranean breeze brushing against our faces, we couldn’t help but feel the weight of history beneath our feet.
Walking among the ruins of this once-mighty empire, we imagined the bustling streets of ancient Carthage, the grandeur of the Antonine Baths, and the echoes of gladiator battles in the amphitheater.
The mix of Phoenician, Roman, and Tunisian influences gave the city a unique charm—one moment we were tracing the outlines of ancient columns, the next we were sipping mint tea in a quiet seaside café.

Sidi Bou Said
