Travel every opportunity

Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

There’s been a quiet but powerful shift in how I choose to live my life—and it’s this: I’ve stopped waiting.

For years, travel was something I fitted in. A holiday here, a long weekend there, always squeezed between work, commitments, and the ever-growing list of “things to do first.” But at some point, I realised that the moments I felt most alive, most present, most me… were the ones spent exploring somewhere new. Walking unfamiliar streets, tasting something I couldn’t pronounce, watching the world unfold in a completely different rhythm.

So I made a decision. Not a dramatic, life-upending one—but a deliberate one. To prioritise travel. To build it into my life, not bolt it on.

And the impact has been incredible.

Travel has given me space to think, to reset, to breathe. It’s reminded me how big the world is—and how small our worries can feel when we step outside our usual surroundings. It’s brought joy, perspective, and a kind of energy that’s hard to find anywhere else. And perhaps most importantly, it’s given me time—real, meaningful time—with the people I love, creating memories that don’t fade.

I’m not “escaping” life anymore. I’m designing it.

And for me, that means saying yes to more journeys, more experiences, and more of those moments where you stop, look around, and think… this is exactly where I’m meant to be.

Saint Lucia: A Trip We’ll Never Forget

We had the most amazing time in Saint Lucia; we loved every single moment of it. From the second we arrived, there was just something about the island that felt different. It’s not your typical Caribbean destination; it’s greener, more dramatic, and full of those little moments that make you stop and take it all in.

Seeing the Pitons in real life was one of those moments. They’re absolutely breathtaking; no photo quite does them justice. Whether we were catching a glimpse of them from the beach or sitting with a drink watching the light change over the water, they made every day feel that bit more special.

We spent time around Soufrière, which quickly became one of our favourite spots. It has such a relaxed, authentic feel to it, the kind of place where you can slow down properly and just enjoy being there.

One of the highlights was visiting the Sulphur Springs, such a unique experience (and yes, we did the mud baths!). We also wandered through Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, which felt like stepping into another world with its waterfalls and lush greenery. It’s the kind of place where you lose track of time in the best possible way.

The beaches in Saint Lucia are all so different, which we loved. Sugar Beach was just stunning, set right between the Pitons, while Anse Chastanet had some of the best snorkelling we’ve ever done.

And then there’s Marigot Bay, calm, beautiful, and exactly the kind of place where you find yourself sitting for hours without even realising it. Sunset, a drink in hand, nowhere else to be… those are the moments we’ll remember most.

The food was another highlight, fresh, full of flavour, and always best enjoyed slowly. We tried local dishes, plenty of seafood, and more than a few rum cocktails along the way. Everything just felt relaxed and unhurried, which made it even better.

Saint Lucia is one of those places that stays with you. It’s not just about how beautiful it is, it’s how it makes you feel while you’re there. Relaxed, happy, completely switched off from everything else.

We honestly loved every moment, and it’s already on the list of places we’d go back to in a heartbeat.

Our next cruise…

Three weeks to go until our next adventure, and the countdown has very much begun. We’re setting sail with MSC Cruises and heading back to Bruges, Rotterdam and Cherbourg — all places we’ve been lucky enough to visit before, and can’t wait to return to. Each one is so special in its own way, and there’s something really lovely about revisiting somewhere with fresh eyes and a little more time to soak it all in.

As always, we’re looking forward to the whole journey — not just the destinations, but the moments in between. Slow mornings at sea, great food, a glass of something cold as the sun sets… and no doubt a few spontaneous plans along the way. Three weeks feels close enough to start packing in our heads (and probably overpacking in reality), and we can’t wait to share it all as it unfolds.

Discover the Timeless Charm of Badminton House and Gardens

Hidden away in the serene Gloucestershire countryside lies Badminton House — a historic English estate where grandeur, tradition, and breathtaking natural beauty meet.

Best known as the ancestral home of the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort, Badminton House is more than just a stately residence. It’s a living testament to England’s aristocratic history and a destination that enchants visitors with its rolling parklands, meticulously kept gardens, and a rich tapestry of stories spanning nearly 400 years.

First Impressions

Driving through the Cotswolds’ golden landscapes, Badminton House emerges like something from a period drama. Its classic Palladian architecture, designed in part by the famed William Kent, offers a quietly majestic welcome.

While the house itself is not generally open year-round, visitors lucky enough to attend one of the rare open days (or the legendary Badminton Horse Trials) are treated to a glimpse inside its beautifully preserved rooms, portraits, and period furnishings that echo centuries of English life.

🌿 The Gardens: A Hidden Masterpiece

The true highlight for many visitors?
The Badminton Gardens — a hidden horticultural treasure.

Originally laid out in the 17th century, the gardens have evolved into a seamless blend of formal design and naturalistic beauty. Today, they are celebrated for their immaculate lawns, sculpted hedgerows, vibrant borders, and peaceful woodland walks.

Some of the standout features include:

  • The Walled Garden: A traditional, productive garden still supplying fruits, vegetables, and flowers to the estate.
  • The Parterre: An elegant arrangement of symmetrical flowerbeds, offering vibrant seasonal colour.
  • Ornamental Lakes and Canals: Reflecting the grand landscaping ambitions of the 18th century.
  • Wildflower Meadows: Offering a softer, more naturalistic contrast to the formal layouts — especially stunning in late spring and early summer.

Every turn feels deliberate but never overly manicured — a delicate balance of art and nature that only a handful of great English gardens achieve.

🏇 The Spirit of Tradition

Badminton House isn’t just about stillness and beauty. It’s famously dynamic too — playing host to the world-renowned Badminton Horse Trials each May.
This event transforms the grounds into a global centre of equestrian excellence, attracting riders, royals, and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world.

It’s also worth noting: the estate gave its name to the sport of badminton, after the shuttlecock game was popularised there in the mid-1800s!

Planning Your Visit

  • When to go:
Badminton House and Gardens typically open to the public for selected days during the spring and summer months. Always check their official website for event dates and garden openings.
  • Nearby:
The surrounding villages — like Tetbury and Chipping Sodbury — are well worth exploring for charming pubs, antique shops, and cosy Cotswold walks.
  • Top Tip:
Don’t rush. Plan to spend at least half a day here. The gardens alone invite lingering strolls, relaxed sketching sessions, or simply sitting and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.

🌸 In Summary

Badminton House and Gardens offer more than just a pretty view. They offer a rare opportunity to walk through living history — a place where tradition and beauty are still carefully nurtured.

Whether you’re a history lover, a garden enthusiast, or simply a curious traveller, Badminton will leave you refreshed, inspired, and a little in awe of England’s timeless elegance.

The Ritz, London

What is your favourite restaurant?
A Taste of Elegance at The Ritz, London

When in London, there’s one place I always find myself drawn back to, The Ritz. Tucked away in the heart of Piccadilly, this iconic hotel isn’t just a feast for the eyes; it’s a culinary experience I keep falling in love with over and over again.

From the moment you walk through its grand entrance, you’re transported to a world of timeless luxury. Gilded ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and impeccable service set the stage, but it’s the food that truly steals the show.

Whether it’s the refined Afternoon Tea in the Palm Court (a London institution in itself) or an exquisite dinner at The Ritz Restaurant, every dish is a work of art. Think delicate flavors, perfect presentation, and a wine list that makes your heart skip a beat.

My personal favorite? The lobster bisque followed by the perfectly cooked fillet of beef. And don’t even get me started on the desserts, they’re almost too pretty to eat (almost).

Dining at The Ritz isn’t just a meal, it’s a moment. If you’re visiting London and want to treat yourself, this is the place to do it. Just remember to dress the part, there’s a dress code, and trust me, it adds to the charm.

Travel Tip: Book well in advance and, if you can, time your visit around golden hour for a truly magical experience.

Dinner Party

Hosting a dinner party is one of the most rewarding experiences. From the moment my guests arrived, the atmosphere felt just right. With soft lighting, a cozy setup, and a carefully curated playlist, I wanted to create a warm and inviting space for everyone to relax and enjoy the evening. The table was set, and the kitchen filled with the delicious aromas of the meal to come.

The food was the heart of the evening. I started with a light appetizer, followed by a hearty main course that was both comforting and flavorful. As everyone dug in, the laughter and conversation flowed effortlessly. Dessert was the perfect grand finale – rich and indulgent, it brought the meal to a sweet close. Of course, the drinks kept the good vibes going, and I loved watching everyone connect and share stories.

As the night wound down, we moved to a more relaxed setting and continued chatting about travels, dreams, and past adventures. The best part wasn’t just the food or drinks, but the people – those friends who make every moment brighter. Hosting nights like this reminds me of how special it is to share a meal, laughter, and time with those who truly matter.

Tetbury

Hidden in the heart of the Cotswolds, Tetbury may be known for its royal connections and antique shops, but for coffee lovers, it’s a quiet paradise waiting to be sipped. The scent of freshly ground beans drifts down the cobbled streets, leading you from one cozy café to the next. Whether it’s the artsy nook of Café 53 with its mismatched furniture and oat milk flat whites, or the refined charm of The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop’s tiny coffee counter, Tetbury serves caffeine with character. Here, your cappuccino comes with a side of local gossip and maybe even a Prince Charles sighting if you’re lucky.

What makes Tetbury’s coffee scene special isn’t just the drinks—it’s the people and the pace. Baristas remember your name (and your dog’s), locals linger over lattes like it’s a sport, and the pastries are dangerously good. Sit outside and watch vintage Land Rovers rumble by, or hunker down indoors with a book and the rain tapping the windows. In Tetbury, every cup tells a story, and somehow, every story tastes better with a shot of espresso.

Finding My Zen…

What’s the most fun way to exercise?

There’s something magical about practicing yoga with your toes in the sand, waves crashing in the background, and the sun painting the sky in fiery shades of orange and pink. As someone who swears by yoga to reset, recharge, and reconnect, doing it on a beach is the ultimate travel perk.

This trip? Pure bliss. I rolled out my mat (okay, let’s be real—just a towel), greeted the ocean breeze with a deep breath, and moved through sun salutations with the actual sun smiling back at me. Talk about good energy.

Every morning, it was just me, the sea, and the seagulls (who are surprisingly judgmental during tree pose, by the way). Evenings were for slower flows, letting the golden hour soak into every stretch. Who needs a studio when the world is this beautiful?

Travel tip: always pack a light mat or yoga towel—you never know when a perfect little slice of paradise will call for a spontaneous flow.

Have you ever tried beach yoga? It’s basically vacation for the soul. Let me know your favorite place to practice!

Scarpetta….

What book could you read over and over again?

Some books are like fast food—quick, satisfying, but forgettable. Then there’s Patricia Cornwell. Her books? They’re like a gourmet thriller buffet I never get tired of.

I could read any Patricia Cornwell novel again and again. Every time I dive back into Kay Scarpetta’s world, it’s like catching up with an old (slightly terrifying but brilliant) friend. Murders, forensics, plot twists that slap you in the face—what’s not to love?

No matter how many times I’ve read them, they still get my heart racing. And let’s be honest, there’s something oddly comforting about solving murders from the safety of my couch.

What’s your “read it a thousand times and still obsessed” with?
