What I Admire

What is something others do that sparks your admiration?

I deeply admire the way some people show unwavering kindness and empathy, even in the face of adversity. Watching someone go out of their way to help a stranger, lend a listening ear, or offer encouragement without expecting anything in return fills me with profound respect. It’s their ability to stay patient and compassionate, even when life tests their limits, that truly moves me. Whether it’s a teacher who invests extra time in a struggling student, or a friend who offers support during tough times, their selflessness reminds me of the power of human connection. Their actions inspire me to be more mindful and to strive for that same generosity of spirit in my own life.

Discover Tavira: Algarve’s Hidden Gem

Our trip to Tavira in Portugal’s Algarve region was an unforgettable adventure that combined sun-soaked beaches, charming old towns, and rich culture. We were looking for both relaxation and exploration, and we found everything we were looking for in the Eastern Algarve.

Tavira: The Jewel of the Eastern Algarve

Tavira, a charming town that feels like a step back in time. Unlike the bustling resort towns of the western Algarve, Tavira offers a quieter, more authentic Portuguese experience. The Gilão River runs through the town, creating a picturesque setting as it meanders under the iconic Roman Bridge. We spent hours wandering the town’s historic streets, marveling at the traditional whitewashed houses and charming tiled facades.

Tavira’s history stretches back centuries, and this is evident in its architecture. We visited the Tavira Castle, which offers fantastic views of the town and the surrounding countryside. From there, we explored the Igreja da Santa Maria do Castelo, a beautiful church built on the site of a former mosque.

One of the highlights of Tavira was catching a ferry to Tavira Island. The island’s stunning beach, Praia de Tavira, is a stretch of golden sand bordered by crystal-clear waters. We spent a perfect day lounging by the sea, soaking up the sun, and taking refreshing dips in the Atlantic Ocean, which incidentally, was very cold! It felt like our own little paradise, far removed from the crowds of more popular Algarve beaches.

The Algarve’s Authentic Side

What struck us most about Tavira was the authentic Portuguese charm that’s often overshadowed by the more commercialized parts of the Algarve. These towns offered a more relaxed, slow-paced atmosphere that made it easy to immerse ourselves in the local culture. From sipping espresso at a street-side café to chatting with friendly locals in the market, every moment felt like an invitation to experience the real Portugal.

A Journey Worth Taking

Our visit to Tavira was an adventure of discovery, beauty, and serenity. Whether wandering the streets of the Old Town, or basking in the sun on Tavira Island’s pristine beaches, we were constantly reminded of the Algarve’s unique charm.

For anyone looking to escape the crowds and explore a more authentic side of Portugal, Tavira is a destination you shouldn’t miss. With a perfect mix of history, culture, and natural beauty, this town gave us an unforgettable experience we’re already longing to relive.

What I could do less of

What could you do less of?

I could probably spend less time doom-scrolling social media like a caffeinated raccoon rifling through a digital trash can. Maybe I should stop hitting snooze so many times that my alarm clock feels like it’s in a toxic relationship. Oh, and I could definitely ease up on Googling “symptoms of mild annoyance” every time someone cuts me off in traffic. Let’s be honest—my search history could use a little less melodrama and a lot more chill.

A Great Day In London

What positive events have taken place in your life over the past year?

It may not necessarily be an event that happened this year,  but  I love the Christmas season. What an incredible day we had in London recently!

From the moment we strolled along the Thames, marveling at the iconic Tower Bridge, to the afternoon spent exploring the majestic halls of the British Museum, the city seemed to radiate energy and charm.

The weather was on our side, with sunshine perfectly illuminating the vibrant streets of Covent Garden where we indulged in some delicious street food.

The highlight? Watching the breathtaking sunset from the London Eye, the city glittering beneath us as we shared laughter and made memories to last a lifetime.

London truly worked its magic on us!

The Ritz London

Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?

The Ritz London is like stepping into a dream of timeless elegance and charm. My favorite memory there was indulging in afternoon tea beneath the grand chandeliers of the Palm Court. The clinking of fine china, the delicate aroma of freshly baked scones, and the gentle hum of a live pianist made it feel as though I’d been transported to another era. Every detail, from the gilded decor to the impeccable service, exuded sophistication. It wasn’t just a visit; it was an experience, a moment where luxury and history came together to create pure magic.

Exploring Faro, Portugal: A Hidden Gem Adventure

Our trip to Faro in Portugal’s Algarve region was an unforgettable adventure that combined sun-soaked beaches, charming old towns, and rich culture. We were looking for both relaxation and exploration, we found everything we were looking for in southern Portugal.

Faro: Gateway to the Algarve

Faro, the Algarve’s capital and a city brimming with history and natural beauty. Often just a quick stop for many tourists heading to the busier parts of the Algarve, Faro deserves more than just a fleeting visit. We wandered through the Old Town (Cidade Velha), where narrow cobbled streets led us to the impressive Arco da Vila, an ancient archway that serves as a gateway to the city’s historic core.

One of our favorite experiences was exploring the Cathedral of Faro in Largo da Sé. After climbing the bell tower, we were rewarded with panoramic views of the city and the nearby Ria Formosa Natural Park—a stunning coastal lagoon. This park, with its maze of waterways, is perfect for birdwatching, and we took a relaxing boat tour, gliding through the peaceful landscape.

At night, Faro’s laid-back charm came alive in the form of cozy restaurants and wine bars. We couldn’t resist indulging in local seafood dishes like cataplana, a flavorful seafood stew, while enjoying the relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere of the town.

The Algarve’s Authentic Side

What struck us most about Faro was the authentic Portuguese charm that’s often overshadowed by the more commercialized parts of the Algarve. This offered a more relaxed, slow-paced atmosphere that made it easy to immerse ourselves in the local culture. From sipping espresso at a street-side café to chatting with friendly locals in the market, every moment felt like an invitation to experience the real Portugal.

Faro’s laid-back vibe, local eateries serving fresh seafood, and easy access to pristine beaches make it a must-visit destination. Whether you’re staying a few days or just passing through, Faro will leave a lasting impression.

Share five things you’re good at.

Share five things you’re good at.

I’m like a superhero with five quirky powers!

First, I’m a world-class snack strategist—I always know the perfect ratio of chips to dip.

Second, my playlist-building skills are unmatched; somehow, I can mix Taylor Swift with heavy metal, and it actually works.

Third, I have a knack for remembering random facts no one asked for, like how octopuses have three hearts (and yes, I bring it up way too often).

Fourth, I’ve mastered the art of saving awkward pauses with jokes that might not always land but still get a laugh.

And finally, I’m amazing at pretending I totally understand confusing movies while secretly Googling the plot.

What is one thing you would change about yourself?

What is one thing you would change about yourself?

If I could change one thing about myself, it would be my ability to instantly come up with a snappy comeback hours after the conversation is over. Imagine how unstoppable I’d be if I could deliver a zinger *before* the other person even finished talking! Instead, I just stand there, nodding like a bobblehead, while my brain holds a committee meeting about what to say. I’d be a legend… or at least less awkward at parties.

Cranberry Orange Cheesecake Bars

Do you or your family make any special dishes for the holidays?

I absolutely love Cranberry Orange Cheesecake Bars—they’re the perfect holiday dessert! The tangy cranberry sauce paired with the bright orange zest is such a refreshing combination, and it balances the rich, creamy cheesecake beautifully. The buttery graham cracker crust adds just the right amount of crunch, and the vibrant cranberry swirl on top makes them look so festive and elegant. They were surprisingly easy to make, but they looked and tasted like something straight out of a bakery. These bars were a huge hit at my holiday gathering, and I’ll definitely be making them again!
